Ruth Ann’s Date Nut Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dates (chopped)
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 3 cups sugar (white)
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup nuts

Instructions:

  1. Pre heat oven to 350° F.
  2. Mix sugar, flour, baking soda and salt. Fill three coffee cans half full.
  3. Make hole in the middle and pour in date mixture. (*grandkid note: “date mixture” might be dates, boiling water and butter – since we do not see directions for these ingredients on the recipe card)
  4. Add beaten eggs into hole. Then add nuts and vanilla extract.
  5. Mix and fill cans.
  6. Bake at 350° F for 20 minutes.
